WHAT IS PHLEBOLINPHEDEMA

It is a singular condition of the combination of insufficiency of both systems, both venous and lymphatic. It is due to a failure in the dual reflux system, and although they are totally different hemodynamic mechanisms, they are complementary and mutually dependent circulation systems. Due to its closely integrated functions, the failure of one system then means the additional load and overload of the other.

TYPES OF PHLEBOLYPHEDEMA

Primary Phlebolinfedema

It is caused by a congenital defect, with the involvement of the onset of a diffuse trunk lymphatic malformation, which affects the venous and lymphatic systems. It is relatively unknown and in most cases represents the clinical manifestation of Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome.

The presence of an arteriovenous malformation makes the general condition of Primary Phlebolinfedema much more difficult to manage. It is also believed that a long-term burden on the lymphatic system can be the cause of a drip - lymphedema.

Secondary Phlebolinfedema

It is an acquired condition, which begins with chronic venous insufficiency due to various causes, and which later leads to chronic lymphatic insufficiency. In the presence of venous hypertension, which is a feature of most venous disorders, the increase in lymphatic flow becomes much greater than the capacity for lymphatic transport.

O treatment for Chronic Secondary Phlebolinfedema, consists of the treatment of the venous abnormality and the observance of the regression of the lymphatic problem.

The diagnosis of Primary and Secondary Phlebolinfedema is based on a detailed medical history, physical examination, and related tests.
