SURGICAL OPTIONS

Endolaser: A thin laser fiber optic is inserted through a catheter into the saphenous vein. The laser energy is delivered through the tip which destroys the diseased portion of the vein.

Stripping (classic surgical saphenecetomy) is the classic technique for varicose vein intervention. It consists of the complete removal of the saphenous vein, using a catheter called a phleboestrator, once disconnected in the groin of the femoral vein and in the ankle of the distal saphenous vein. It is performed under general or epidural anesthesia, and it is necessary for the patient to remain hospitalized normally for one day.

Hemodynamic surgery for ambulatory venous insufficiency (CHIVA): It is a much less traumatic surgery than conventional (stripping). It represents a physiological approach to the surgical treatment of varicose veins through ultrasound.

Sclerotherapy: it involves injecting a chemical solution into the vein that produces inflammation and obstruction of the vein with subsequent disappearance of the venous network.
