TUMESCENT LIPOSUCTION

For local anesthesia it involves injecting large volumes of highly diluted lidocaine (local anesthetic) and epinephrine (drug that shrinks capillaries) into subcutaneous fat.

The word tumescent means swollen and firm. With the tumescent technique, the volume of diluted lidocaine that is injected into the fat is so large that the target areas literally become tumescent (swollen and firm). The tumescent technique produces a deep and lasting local anesthesia of the skin and subcutaneous fat.

LIPOSUCTION WAL OR ACUALIPO

It consists of removing diseased adipose tissue that is much more fibrous and compact than usual and the areas to be treated are more delicate. Water pressure causes fat cells to loosen more easily, so this technique does not damage the ducts and lymph nodes during fat removal. Water is introduced and fat is extracted simultaneously. Several areas can be addressed in the same intervention, but the case needs to be assessed and done for priorities. It is a safe and designed procedure to remove fat with the least damage, most quickly and with the least possible discomfort to the patient.

Post operative

Recovery will depend on the amount of fat extracted, the type of fat and the patient. The fat takes about 5 months to compact and the skin up to 8 to shrink. In three to four weeks normal life is usually done.

General guidelines:

   ●  Compression stockings, not excessively tight.

   ●  Manual lymphatic drainage sessions: 3 to 5 sessions / week during the first month, at least.

   ●  Start walking early and, as soon as the wounds heal, water sports like swimming or aquagym.

It is essential to go to doctors who are experts in Lipedema and with a comprehensive approach to the treatment of this pathology.
